MIDOR organized the "Specification Working Group
Meeting # 5" for the African Refiners Association (ARA)
on November 21-22, 2011. The meeting was widely attended
by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). It
was headed by Mr. Joel Dervain, the Executive Secretary
of the Organization and 14 members from ARA representing
major oil companies working in the downstream sector in
Africa like Total, Afton Chemical, Sogara, Citac,
Galana, Sonagal, Indeni, Engen, SIR, UNEP, and Energy
Regulation Board, from different countries like Ivory
Coast, South Africa, Gabon, Kenya, Zambia, Angola and
Ghana.

The visit lasted for two days; on the first day,
a discussion session was held to exchange updated
technologies and discuss the modern techniques in the
downstream industry, the specification of petroleum
products and its effect, in addition to ways of
enhancing cooperation. On the second day, the delegates
visited MIDOR refinery to witness the progress and
efficiency of the refinery according to its Complexity
Index and the production of premium refined products
based on the latest technological methods in the Middle
East.
